Jack White - Love Interruption
First single off his upcoming solo album, Blunderbuss. A beautiful, mellow groove with lovely harmonizing and some fun clarinet hiding in the background.
All of which just makes these lyrics all the more amazing. I am destroyed, everyone. I cannot contain myself. Please, Jack White, press all my buttons more, why don’t you.
I want love to roll me over slowly
stick a knife inside me and twist it all around
i want love to grab my fingers gently
slam them in a doorway, put my face into the ground
I want love to murder my own mother and
take her off to somewhere, like hell or up above
And I want love to change my friends to enemies,
change my friends to enemies and show me how it’s all my fault. No, I won’t let love disrupt, corrupt, or interrupt me
I won’t let love disrupt, corrupt, or interrupt me
Yeah I won’t let love disrupt, corrupt, or interrupt me
anymore.I want love to walk right up and bite me
grab a hold of me and fight me, leave me dying on the ground
And I want love to split my mouth right open and
cover up my ears and never let me hear a sound
I want love to forget that you offended me,
or how you had defended me when everybody taught me down
Yeah and I want love to change my friends to enemies
change my friends to enemies and show me how it’s all my fault. No, I won’t let love disrupt, corrupt, or interrupt me
I won’t let love disrupt, corrupt, or interrupt me
Yeah, I won’t let love disrupt, corrupt or interrupt me
anymore.
News of their divorce made me a little sad, but then I read their statement:
“We remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children Scarlett and Henry Lee. We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow. In honor of that time shared, we are throwing a divorce party. An evening together in Nashville to re-affirm our friendship and celebrate the past and future with close friends and family.”
What a beautiful sentiment. And this invitation is charming.

Jack White & Karen Elson: 5 Musical Moments
In an odd, somewhat surprising bit of news, Jack White and Karen Elson announced today that they plan “to celebrate their 6th anniversary and their upcoming divorce with a positive swing bang hum dinger” in Nashville. A press release includes an invitation to the private party, reading: “Please help us celebrate together this anniversary of the making and breaking of the sacred union of marriage with our best friends and animals.”
Given that the talented couple, who added that they will “remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children Scarlett and Henry Lee,” are opting to focus on better days, I thought we might as well: Enjoy a chronological recap of their key recording and music video collaborations so far, beginning with the 2005 White Stripes video where they met and ending with recent cuts from Elson’s White-produced solo material, below.

Video: Jack White Plays SXSW
Jack White surprised Austin today (while we were unfortunately stuck in Houston during a layover en route to SXSW) by offering up an acoustic performance outside the Third Man Rolling Record Store before turning the stage (read: street) over to TMR’s latest roster member, Seasick Steve. Fortunately, All Songs Considered was on the scene, up-close with a video camera in tow. Enjoy today’s take on Buddy Holly’s “Not Fade Away” and the White Stripes’ “Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground” above.
